Angry Birds developer sets sights on animated series

Rovio Mobile, the Finnish software developer that brought the world the popular mobile game Angry Birds, said Wednesday it wanted to develop an animated series based on the game.
"We are planning a cartoon that would be interesting to the whole family, for both adults and children," company spokesman Ville Heijari told AFP.
The game, which was launched first for Apple's mobile operating system in December 2009, features cartoonish, wingless birds that the player must slingshot into enemy pig territory to reclaim stolen eggs.
Rovio said they have not yet formed an idea for characters or episodes.
"We are seeking co-operation with the best scriptwriters and the best distributors," said Heijari.
Angry Birds' popularity has lead to the development of the game for all major smartphone brands, personal computers, and game consoles.
The company also launched merchandise sales last year, including Angry Birds plush toys.
